Susan Saudek a photographer based in Washington DC.

I am a photographer on a journey in search of light, shape and color.

The journey has no fixed destination.

No matter where I find myself, I find the unusual in the ordinary.

I set out to photograph a new location wandering for hours

looking, sensing and absorbing.

At the end of the day, I often discover my contact sheet

filled with portraits of strangers, images of hands at work,

shadow plays on a wall, patterns found in the gritty cement of the subway that become abstract art, or

a leaf that begged me to move so close it no longer was a leaf.

The excitement for me is the discovery of a moment or a subject that others do not see.

Each of these images is a facet of my artistic vision.

These are the things that stop me short in my tracks and demand to be photographed.

Photography is my gift for life.
